After huge investment and development of Southend Airport both Rochford and Southend Councils were challenged to further develop the surrounding area to allow further expansion to the airport and create a new business park which would bring businesses and skills into the area whilst providing employment opportunities for local people. The stake holders created a plan called The London Southend Airport and Environs Joint Area Action Plan (also known as the JAAP), and a part of this plan includes the relocation of Westcliff Rugby Football Club to allow the development of the new business park. The JAAP has been approved by the Government and our new Club House and Pitches are close to completion.
The last date given for completion was the end of September 2019, however risks still exists which may push this later.
The Clubs current fund raising drive is for the Legacy Fund. The fund will be used to provide security for future rugby player generations by extending the lease of the New rugby club grounds and facilities. Find out more about the Legacy Fund and how to donate click here
Development in the Area
London Southend Airport (JAAP)
The Joint Area Action Plan (JAAP) has been prepared by Rochford District Council and Southend-on-Sea Borough Council in response to the challenges and opportunities offered by London Southend Airport together with an airport related employment cluster. The Plan is intended to integrate land use, transport, environmental and regeneration proposals with clear mechanisms for delivery.
