As an semi-amateur but ambitious community club, Westcliff strive to offer and deliver senior rugby for players of all abilities whilst maintaining strong community links and upholding and promoting the games core values.
The development and progression of players through our youth system is the bedrock of our senior set up and has allowed the club in recent years to establish itself as one of the foremost clubs in the county. The 1st XV are a much respected and highly competitive side and having previously played in the national leagues, they have ambitions to return to that level. The 1st XV are underpinned and supported by a successful 2nd XV and our other senior sides provide a platform for players of all ages, abilities and backgrounds in the game to develop and enjoy their rugby in the manner that best suits them.
Jimmy joined Bishop’s Stortford Rugby Club aged eleven. He continued to play for them for the next twenty-five years, save for three years spent down in the West country while studying, during which time he played for established Gloucester club Widden Old Boys.
Jimmy made his 1st XV debut for Stortford in 2008, and was to enjoy two promotions during his career, from level Five to National Two South in the 2012-13 season and then to National One five seasons later.
Jimmy enjoyed county recognition both with Hertfordshire Under 20’s and Gloucestershire Under 20’s, before enjoying further honours with Hertfordshire at Under 23 level. Possibly the highlight of his career was to be a member of the Hertfordshire County squad which reached the final of the Bill Beaumont County Championship, finishing runners-up to Lancashire in 2018.
Westcliff RFC is a community rugby club that is run solely for the benefit of its members. Our members are the life blood of the club without whom we simply wouldn’t exist. Get in touch to find out more.
